Ras Kutani

Ras Kutani is Tanzanias best honeymoon destination by far. Only 35 kilometers

South of the port of Dar es Salaam Ras Kutani can be found. So there is no need to fly to Zanzibar to have a fantastic beach holiday. It is the perfect hideaway, far from the madding crowd. The setting ensures that feeling of being on one's own tropical island. The resort is in a superb location on a hill among a tropical forest overlooking the ocean on one side and a freshwater lagoon with a big white, sandy streched and isolated beach on the other. The accommodation

Ras Kutani has 12 spacious cottages built from reed matting and palm thatch, all with a

huge double bed draped in a white mosquito net, and a verandah full of cushions and hammocks. The new Upepo Suites, are four spacious and airy suites, located canopy high on the hill, with sweeping views of the crescent bay and the jade waters of the Indian Ocean. Explore the surrounding forest on foot, on horseback, or by boat along the river, or simply relax to the sound to the waves in a hammock on the beach. Ras Kutani is the perfect hideaway in which to chillout. The lodge also offers massages and wellness treatments.

The interior of the rooms and suites combine local materials with contemporary African design which remains ecofriendly in its casual luxury. Each veranda

comes with a private dip pool against an infinity backdrop, daybeds and hammocks. The lodge also has a family unit comprising two connected cottages with a shared living area situated on top of the hill with sweeping 180 degree views. Ras Kutani is a true gem in paradise. Nature lovers will find their pleasure close to home. The tropical, coastal forest behind the lodge boasts some 132 different species of trees in many of which one can watch the antics of four species of monkey, including the spectacular black-and-white Colobus.

Relax

Relaxation is the keynote at Ras Kutani. The temperate seas and proximity of coral reefs ensure

a wealth of marine life and interest for those keen on snorkelling. A variety of colourful fish, dolphins, whales and turtles are frequent visitors to Ras Kutanis' shores and snorkeling equipment can be provided. Important to know that diving is not offered. For those who prefer a somewhat drier experience kayaks are available to explore the fresh water lagoon.

Turtles

Turtles still come to nest along the shore of Ras Kutani in season, with opportunities for interested guests to become involved in the projects that continue to look out for their welfare.The deserted beach is also ideal for long walks and a chance to experience the enchantment of a tropical shoreline redolent with the history of a continent.
